Renovation

212 Broad Street
Middletown, MD

Scope of Work:

The subject property was purchased April 17, 2015.

The original structure was built in 1948, with the kitchen and garage being added in 1960.  The house needed a lot of love... while it was functional, there had not been updates done for decades.

The house is a Cape Cod and had an unfinished attic and an unfinished basement.  The main level of the house was reconfigured to a more "open plan" concept.  An exterior door was closed off in the kitchen; a bedroom was converted to a dining space with a sliding glass door to the back yard.  The foyer area was opened up to create a more welcoming feel upon entering the house.  The rear wall in the attic was raised 7 feet and a master suite was built in the newly created space.  A den, large recreation room, full bath, laundry and utility room were added to the basement.  A water remediation system was installed in the basement to prevent future dampness.

A new roof, all new heating and cooling, all new electric, and all new plumbing were installed.  The outside got a fresh coat of paint, new retaining walls at the driveway, and new railings at the front and rear porches.

A new double sided gas log fireplace was built between the kitchen and the living room.

The three bedroom, one bath house has been converted to a three bedroom plus den, 3 bath home with modern conveniences.  All the original trim, doors and windows on the first floor were sanded, painted and reinstalled.  All the wood floors on the first floor and the attic were sanded, stained and treated with polyurethane.
